Your Privacy Is Protected
Updated October 13, 2026
Miouw runs entirely locally on your Mac. There is no account, no sign-up, and no personal data sent anywhere.
What Miouw reads on your Mac
- Whether you are active. Miouw reads the elapsed time since the keyboard or mouse was last touched, so the cat knows when to nap and when to say hello. It never reads which keys you press or what you type.
- Where your windows are. To walk along window edges, Miouw reads the position and dimensions of visible windows, not their contents.
- Files you drop in its holding box. The holding box keeps only a temporary reference to each file while it sits there to ease dragging between apps; the file is never copied or uploaded.
- A photo for fur colour matching. If you use "match colours from a photo", the photo is processed entirely on your Mac and never stored by Miouw.
Anonymous usage statistics
Miouw can send anonymous statistics through TelemetryDeck: app version, macOS version, the cat you chose, and counts of interaction events such as "app opened" or "cat petted". There is no identifier that points to you, and nothing from the contents of your Mac. You can switch this off in Settings at any time.
Software updates
When checking for updates, Miouw downloads appcast.xml from miouw.com. That request carries only your app version and macOS version, like any standard web request.
